Damascus, Syria, December 4. - Right-wingers strengthened their already assured majority in parliament here today as vote counting in the Syrian republic’s first election dragged to a close.
Only 17 Damascus seats in the 172-seat parliament remained officially uncounted two days after the balloting. Fourteen of these however, already were in effect won and the winners included some of Syria’s political names.
Assured of victory in the capital were Mamoun Kuzbari, who was named premier by the military junta the day after Syria broke away from the United Arab Republic in September; ex-Premier Khaled Azm, Issam Attar, Moslem Brotherhood leader, and ex-Premiers Said Ghazzi and Sabri Assali
