Syria Reports Sabotage Plot - 04/02/1963

Damascus, Feb. 4 (AP) - Syrian authorities said Monday that they have discovered a plot masterminded by the United Arab Republic Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon to carry ur political assassinations and bomb-throwing sabotage throughout Syria.

 

An interior ministry spokesman said some non-Syrian Arabs were arrested in the conspiracy. Two Lebanese, he said, confessed to being hired by the U.A.R. Embassy to assassinate, for $33,00 each, Syria’s Prime Minister Khaled el Azem. Left wing socialist leader Akram Hourani, right-wing Moslem brotherhood Issam Attar and two former Syrian premiers, Sabri Assali and Mamoun Kuzbari.
