Letter from Dr Izzat al-Nuss to Mamoun Kuzbari accepting his letter of resignation as President of the Council of Ministers

Your Excellency Dr Mamoun Al Kuzbari,

The Council of Ministers has considered your letter dated 20/11/1961 in which you’ve submitted your resignation from your role as the President of the Council of Ministers, Foreign Minister, and Defense Minister so you can register your candidacy for the upcoming elections.

All Ministers have sought to discourage you from this resignation knowing very well that you will be completely unbiased and impartial in the elections regardless of your Ministerial positions. However, you insisted on this resignation in order to set the highest of examples of complete neutrality and utter impartiality.

While your brothers recognize this noble position, they also proudly remember your other noble standings in which you served the State and your remarkable leadership in accepting the role of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers following the blessed revolution by the Army on 28th September. You have also carried the burden of the ruling with courage and sincerity helping in securing the country’s ship on the safety dock. The flag of the Syrian Arab Republic rose up high. The Republic then set out as usual to help serve the Wider Arab World and the Arab people in every country of its member states.

And as the Council receives your resignation, it deeply regrets that the country will lose you and wishes you success in your candidacy for the House of Representatives. We also wish that the country benefits from your gifts in every step you take.

Please accept our highest consideration

President of the Council of Ministers.
